The Assistant Project Manager Role – Keeping Projects Moving, Driving Success

This isn’t just a “support” role. As an Assistant Project Manager at Towner, you’ll keep our telecommunications and technology projects running smoothly—building schedules, tracking progress, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You’ll work alongside project managers, technicians, and leadership to keep jobs on time, organized, and client-ready.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on details, loves juggling schedules, and takes pride in turning complex projects into smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Builder – Create and update technician schedules across active projects.

  • Detail Tracker – Record hours, materials, and progress data in our CRM.

  • Change Order Spotter – Flag schedule impacts and updates before they cause delays.

  • Kickoff Assistant – Support meetings, capture notes, and keep action items documented.

  • CRM Owner – Keep project notes and status current so leadership always has visibility.

  • Team Partner – Collaborate with managers, technicians, and leadership to keep projects aligned.

What Success Looks Like

In 6 Months: You’ve mastered our CRM, built reliable technician schedules, and become the go-to for keeping projects on track. You’re catching change orders early, updating leadership with accurate data, and ensuring projects run smoothly from kickoff to close.

In 1 Year: You’re not just supporting projects—you’re running them with confidence. You’ve streamlined processes, built stronger coordination between technicians and managers, and proven you can keep multiple jobs on time and on budget. You’re positioning yourself for growth into a full Project Manager role at Towner.

Challenges of the Role (Because there will be some)

  • Deadline-Driven & Detail-Heavy – You’ll be managing multiple project schedules and updates at once. Accuracy matters—there’s no room for “close enough.”

  • Shifting Priorities – Projects change fast. Schedules adjust, new details pop up, and you’ll need to pivot while staying calm under pressure.

  • Ownership in the Details – You’ll often be the one making sure all project data, notes, and CRM updates are correct. If you need step-by-step direction, this role won’t be the right fit.
